The role will focus heavily on HVAC and mechanical systems, with plumbing and broader MEP coordination also playing an important part. This is a dynamic position that blends project engineering, preconstruction, design review, budgeting, and field coordination. The ideal candidate has a couple years of construction experience and wants to build a long-term career specializing in MEP. Experience with a mechanical contractor is highly preferred, but candidates coming from a general contractor, subcontractor, or field background will also be considered. The company has strong in-house preconstruction, VDC, design-build, and construction capabilities, including MEP concept design and value engineering. Key Responsibilities Support MEP coordination across active construction projects from preconstruction through field execution Focus heavily on HVAC systems, mechanical coordination, and plumbing scopes Review MEP drawings, specifications, budgets, and design documents Assist with MEP budget reviews, design reviews, and constructability analysis Coordinate with mechanical, plumbing, electrical, and other specialty subcontractors Work directly with Project Managers, Superintendents, design teams, and field personnel Participate in field walks to review installation progress and identify coordination issues Track RFIs, submittals, procurement, equipment, and MEP project documentation Support coordination of HVAC equipment, ductwork, piping, controls, and plumbing systems Identify design conflicts and help develop practical field solutions Assist with value engineering and early-stage MEP planning Support project startup, commissioning, punch lists, and turnover Help improve internal MEP processes as the department continues to grow Take increasing ownership of MEP operations and field coordination as experience develops Requirements 2+ years of construction experience preferred Background in HVAC, mechanical, plumbing, MEP, general contracting, or specialty subcontracting HVAC / mechanical construction experience strongly preferred Plumbing experience is a plus Field construction experience highly valued Ability to read and interpret MEP drawings and specifications Strong interest in MEP construction, coordination, preconstruction, and project operations Self-motivated and comfortable taking ownership without constant direction Strong problem-solving ability and willingness to learn Strong communication and organizational skills Comfortable working with both office and field teams Preferred Background Mechanical Project Engineer HVAC Project Engineer MEP Project Engineer Project Engineer with a general contractor Mechanical or plumbing subcontractor experience Field Engineer or Assistant Project Manager with MEP exposure HVAC field or project coordination experience For candidates with less than two years of experience, a Mechanical Engineering degree is strongly preferred. For more experienced candidates, relevant construction and MEP experience may be considered in place of a specific degree.
