This role assists with estimating, scheduling, submittals, and quantity tracking while coordinating with field crews, subcontractors, and suppliers. The Project Engineer helps ensure safety, quality, and productivity on site, supports cost control and change management, and maintains accurate project documentation. Ideal candidates have construction or civil engineering experience, strong communication skills, and a commitment to Knife River's safety-first, team-based culture. Responsibilities Assist in planning, scheduling, and coordinating construction projects Prepare and review estimates, quantities, and cost reports Support field crews with drawings, specifications, and technical guidance Coordinate with subcontractors, suppliers, and inspectors Monitor safety, quality, and productivity on site Maintain project documentation, RFIs, and submittals Track progress, prepare reports, and assist with billing Support change order development and cost control Assist in implementing Knife River's safety policies Participate in project meetings with internal and external stakeholders Required Skills Construction project management Reading and interpreting plans and specifications Cost estimating Scheduling (e.g., Primavera, MS Project) Quality control and inspection Site surveying basics Auto CAD or design software Safety compliance and OSHA standards Contract and change order management Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook)
