Civil Project Engineer Job Description This role offers an opportunity for a motivated Civil Project Engineer to support a growing team by delivering high-quality land development projects across commercial, residential, and industrial sectors. You will collaborate closely with project managers to ensure projects remain within scope, on schedule, and within budget while meeting established standards. Responsibilities Write clear, accurate, and well-structured technical reports that document project findings, designs, and recommendations. Schedule, coordinate, and attend internal and external project meetings, ensuring that action items and decisions are documented and followed through. Make informed decisions related to project costs and time schedules, balancing quality, budget, and deadlines. Plan and organize civil engineering projects for a variety of clients, including commercial, residential, and industrial developments. File, organize, and retrieve project documents and records to maintain accurate and accessible project documentation. Operate and design using AutoCAD Civil 3D to produce site development plans, layouts, and detailed construction drawings. Apply structured decision-making techniques to evaluate design alternatives and select appropriate engineering solutions. Plan project activities and manage budgets in coordination with project managers to keep projects on track and within financial targets. Perform grading design for sites, streets, and related infrastructure to ensure proper drainage and constructability. Design streets, utilities, and water quality facilities that comply with applicable codes, standards, and client requirements. Develop drainage designs and reports to manage stormwater and protect infrastructure and surrounding properties. Assist project managers in delivering projects that are within scope, on schedule, and within budget while meeting company and client standards. Interpret designs, work orders, and related information accurately and decisively to support timely project execution. Work effectively under pressure in a fast-paced team environment, contributing to a collaborative and supportive culture. Essential Skills Experience as a Civil Engineer with 2 or more years of land development experience in commercial, residential, or industrial projects. Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D for civil design and drafting. Strong background in civil engineering, including site development and land development design. Ability to perform grading, street, utility, water quality, and drainage design. Ability to interpret designs, work orders, and related technical information accurately and decisively. Capability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced team environment. Demonstrated ability to support projects so they remain within scope, on schedule, and within budget. Effective written and verbal communication skills for report writing and participation in meetings. Additional Skills & Qualifications EIT (Engineer in Training) certification or progress toward professional licensure. Eligibility for or interest in obtaining Professional Engineer (PE) licensure. Experience working as a Project Engineer I or II on land development projects. Strong organizational skills for managing project documents and coordinating multiple tasks. Interest in mentorship and professional growth within a small, growing team environment.
