Entry-Level Civil Engineer Job Description This entry-level civil engineering role focuses on the design of landfill pipe networks and related site development work. The position is ideal for candidates with less than two years of experience who want to build a strong foundation in civil engineering design, land development, and solid waste infrastructure. You will contribute to projects that support landfill and waste disposal sites across the western region while receiving training and mentorship within a tight-knit Denver-based team. Responsibilities Assist in the design of landfill pipe networks, including layout and configuration to support effective waste disposal operations. Perform civil site design tasks using Civil 3D, focusing on grading, drainage, and general land development. Support site development activities, including preparation of design drawings, plans, and documentation for landfill and solid waste facilities. Apply basic land development principles to create grading plans, drainage plans, and site layouts under the guidance of senior engineers. Collaborate with project team members to deliver accurate and timely design work for sites across the western region. Participate in design reviews and incorporate feedback to improve the quality and constructability of engineering solutions. Contribute to project coordination efforts, including communication with internal stakeholders regarding design progress and technical issues. Support field visits and travel to project sites in Texas, Nevada, and California as needed to understand site conditions and assist with project implementation. Engage in ongoing training and mentorship to develop technical skills in Civil 3D and solid waste engineering. Maintain organized project files and adhere to established design standards and procedures. Essential Skills Civil engineering background with an interest in landfill and solid waste facility design. Less than two years of experience in civil engineering or related design work. Proficiency with Civil 3D and ability to use the software for grading, drainage, and site layout tasks. Understanding of basic land development concepts, including grading, drainage, and site layout. Ability to perform site development design work, including preparation of plans and drawings. Strong attention to detail and ability to follow established design standards and procedures. Willingness to travel to project sites in Texas, Nevada, and California as required. Effective communication and collaboration skills for working within a project team. Typical work is conducted in an office setting with periodic visits to outdoor project sites. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Englewood, CO. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $40.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
