(AIE) is looking for a Sr. Structural Engineer to join our Bridge Inspection and Design teams in Boston, MA. This is an immediate opening for an enthusiastic, highly-organized bridge inspection engineering professional to lead inspections, with the option to assist with load rating and design on new projects. The ideal candidate should possess a "can-do" attitude, excellent verbal and written communication skills, and an ability to work independently as well as with a team in a dynamic, fast-paced, and innovative consulting firm. Requirements/Qualifications:
Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering or related degree 5+ years of experience in bridge inspection, methods, and procedures. Experience with MA infrastructure projects is preferred MA Professional Engineer (P.E.) designation or ability to obtain within 12 months is required Bridge Design/Rehabilitation and Bridge Load Rating experience is a plus NHI Inspection and Maintenance of Ancillary Highway Structures, FCM, tunnel inspection NHI courses, railroad, and/or safety training are a plus. Completion of an NHI two (2) week Bridge Inspector's Training Certificate and/or Refresher course within the past 5 years is preferred. Ability and willingness to accommodate scheduled night work Ability and willingness to travel to job sites, including those in other states when needed Responsibilities Bridge, tunnel, and ancillary/traffic safety inspections and load ratings Preparing scheduling, writing inspection reports, assuring QA/QC, and assist with project coordination Perform structural analyses, develop calculations, and prepare plans in accordance with federal, state, and local agency requirements. Prepare quantities, cost estimates, and special provisions. Manage and maintain project and QA/QC documentation. Assist project managers with assignments including schedule and budget updates and proposal preparation Perform engineering tasks related to bridge design projects and other transportation-related structural design and analysis projects as time allows Design steel, concrete, and/or timber bridge elements, walls, and associated structures as time allows
Skills & Abilities:
A self-starter with the ability to work with project teams and manage multiple and concurrent tasks/assignments Strong organizational skills with ability to manage the inspection duties in the field. Da ta driven and detail-oriented with excellent written and verbal communication skills Considerable knowledge of Architecture, Engineering, Construction inspection process and procedures Ability to meet deadlines and complete work in a timely manner.
