Job Title Civil Construction Engineer - Professional Engineer (PE) Job Post Summary We are seeking an experienced Civil Construction Engineer with an active Professional Engineer (PE) license to provide engineering, construction, and quality leadership support for large-scale heavy civil construction projects. This role combines civil engineering expertise with construction management, quality assurance, materials, and field operations. The ideal candidate will have experience supporting multi-state construction projects, reviewing technical documents, managing QA/QC programs, and providing technical leadership to field teams. The position requires extensive travel and the ability to work closely with project teams, contractors, engineers, and operations leadership. Job Roles and Responsibilities Review and approve engineering plans, calculations, specifications, submittals, and technical documentation. Review contractor proposals, shop drawings, and construction-related submissions. Provide engineering support and technical leadership for heavy civil construction projects. Perform field inspections and resolve technical construction issues. Ensure compliance with DOT, federal, and project-specific requirements. Develop, implement, and manage Quality Assurance and Quality Control (QA/QC) programs. Manage QC Managers, technicians, and field technical personnel. Develop and maintain Quality Management Systems (QMS). Lead quality audits, testing programs, documentation, and calibration processes. Investigate quality concerns and implement corrective actions. Review concrete mix designs, material testing results, and project specifications. Support estimating and bidding activities through plan/specification reviews. Maintain certifications and compliance documentation. Standardize engineering processes, quality procedures, and technical documentation. Collaborate with operations and sales teams on technical requirements. Provide engineering support across multiple states. Mentor engineers, technicians, and field personnel. Communicate project risks, quality trends, and improvement recommendations to leadership.

Qualifications and Certifications Required:

Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Engineering, or related ABET-accredited engineering program. Active Professional Engineer (PE) license. 7+ years of experience in civil construction engineering, heavy civil infrastructure, or construction management. Experience managing QA/QC programs. Experience reviewing construction drawings, specifications, and technical submittals. Strong leadership and communication skills. Ability to travel extensively across multiple states.

Heavy highway construction experience. DOT project experience. Concrete, asphalt, aggregate, or construction materials background. ACI certifications. OSHA training. Experience with FAA, USACE, Railroad, or DOT specifications. Concrete mix design and materials testing experience. Quality Management System (QMS) experience.
