Civil Engineering Intern APTech Student Employment & Internships About APTech We are a full-service pavement engineering consulting firm that provides effective solutions for the design, evaluation, maintenance, and rehabilitation of roadway and airport pavements. Since our founding in 1994, we have worked with clients at the state, federal, and local levels in the United States and abroad, and we are a recognized leader in our industry. We help our clients identify cost-effective strategies that reduce the overall life-cycle cost of preserving the pavement network while incorporating the latest pavement-related designs and technologies into organizational practice. About the Role APTech has up to four immediate openings for hard-working, well-organized Civil Engineering Interns to work on a variety of airport and roadway projects. These temporary positions will be located either in APTech's corporate office in Champaign, Illinois, or our Waunakee, WI (Madison area) office. These will require occasional multi-day travel. Engineering Interns support Civil engineers in facilitating field data collection activities, conducting pavement testing assessments, and supporting other project-related work across the United States. Responsibilities Conducting pavement inspections. Creating and updating two-dimensional mappings. Managing database developments and indexing. Proficiency with Microsoft Office programs (such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Access), experience with Structured Query Language (SQL), and good overall computer hardware and software skills. Excellent written and oral communication skills. Flexibility to travel, work weekends, and overtime as necessary. Experience with Geographic Information Systems (GIS) is a plus. Job Requirements Course work or a degree in civil engineering, with a concentration in transportation materials. Knowledge of pavement materials and pavement design and construction practices. GIS and AutoCAD experience Compensation $21.00-$23.00 per hour. Engineering Interns will receive paid travel expenses and per diem allowance for meals.
