Job Title :
Geoarcheologist Salary :

Entry-Level / Junior (0-3 years): $38,000 to $48,000 per year (hourly wages around $19-$30/hr in cultural resource management).

Mid-Level (3-7 years): $48,000 to $65,000 per year.

Senior-Level / Principal Investigator (7+ years/Master's or Ph.D.): $70,000 to $110,000+ per year, especially in private consulting or government roles

MUST HAVES

Bachelor's degree in Archaeology, Anthropology, History, Architectural History, or a related field; Master's degree preferred for higher-level roles.

Experience with archaeological or historical surveys and evaluations; SOI-qualified archaeologists or historians strongly preferred.

Experience with GIS, particularly Field Maps, GPS, and mapping tools, is highly preferred.

Ability to work both in the field and office/laboratory environment depending on project needs.

Relevant experience in a specialized area such as geoarchaeology, lithic analysis, or other niche archaeological disciplines is a strong plus.

NICE TO HAVES

Specialized expertise in lithic analysis or other niche archaeological disciplines

Ability to support multiple projects simultaneously in a consulting environment

Experience with large-scale infrastructure or transmission line projects

Project management or task management experience

Experience leading or coordinating field crews

Experience preparing proposals and scopes of work

DAY TO DAY

Conduct archaeological and/or historical fieldwork, including surveys, evaluations, and documentation of cultural resources.

Prepare technical reports, desktop studies, proposals, and other project documentation based on project requirements and level of experience.

Perform mapping and GIS work using tools such as ArcGIS Pro, Field Maps, and GPS-based data collection.

Evaluate structures and buildings for historical and architectural significance and support cultural resource assessments.

Collaborate with project teams and clients to help keep projects moving from fieldwork through final deliverables.
