We have partnered with a Global General contractor with over 160 years of experience and projects across Canada, the USA, and Europe. They are looking for an experienced Project Engineer to join their Alexandria, Virginia team as they launch their new heavy civil construction division in the DMV region (District of Columbia, Maryland, Virginia) and expand their presence in North America. Reporting to the Project Manager, the Project Engineer will ensure projects remain on schedule and within budget by monitoring and analyzing cost data, managing subcontractor activities and deliverables, and verifying compliance with quality and health and safety standards. This is a unique opportunity to join a legacy of excellence while shaping the future of infrastructure in the U.S. Roles and responsibilities Review all shop drawings, design specifications, material requirements and project data. Provide technical input for the project work plan and scheduling. Identify risk factors in production, materials, equipment, or processes that could negatively impact the budget or schedule. Evaluate daily production, schedule and budget projections to accurately track project performance. Meet with engineering and field crews to review the production schedule and confirm all materials, equipment and resources. Manage subcontractors and coordinate subcontractor work methods, schedule and crews as needed. Update project schedule monthly for owner and management reporting. Prepare and manage a three-week work plan. Notify engineering and project management of any significant schedule changes and develop solutions to mitigate delays and costs. Initiate and manage all Requests for Information (RFIs). Remit accurate project quantities using assigned project cost coding to ensure project financials are accurately reported. Manage invoicing with the accounting team regarding materials, equipment and subcontractor needs. Review the certificates and permits required to perform the work. Review required Job Hazard Analysis (JHAs) to ensure a safe and compliant work environment for all construction personnel. Qualifications A minimum of 3 - 5 years of experience working for a General Contractor. Experience in earthworks and site development is required. Bachelor's Degree in a related field. EIT designation or higher is considered an asset Data center construction experience is an asset. Knowledge of construction project management Technical knowledge in different types of Heavy Civil construction. Knowledge of construction scheduling and production time management. Proficiency with MS Office, including MS Project, HECRAS, AutoCAD, ArcGIS, Bluebeam and Primavera P6 You must have Superior analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills. Strong leadership, coaching skills, persuasive communication, performance and stress management Workplace health and safety awareness. Work Condition Up to 50 hours a week, based on project requirements Clear driving record / own vehicle Central office located in Alexandria, with project located in Frederick, MD.Mobility:
