At Jackola Engineering & Architecture, we believe great structures begin with thoughtful design, strong relationships, and talented people. We're looking for an experienced Structural Engineer with a Professional Engineer (PE) license to join our Bozeman team and contribute to a wide variety of projects throughout Montana and the surrounding region. As part of our collaborative, full-service design team, you'll work alongside architects, engineers, planners, and designers to create practical, high-quality solutions for buildings that serve communities and businesses alike. From schools and office buildings to multifamily housing, hospitality, financial institutions, and retail spaces, you'll have the opportunity to work on diverse projects that make a lasting impact. We're seeking a well-rounded engineer who enjoys solving complex challenges, mentoring others, and working closely with clients and project teams. Occasional travel for site visits and client meetings may be required. Key Responsibilities Lead and mentor structural design staff throughout project design and construction phases. Develop practical, efficient, and constructable structural solutions to meet project goals. Collaborate within multidisciplinary teams to develop structural concepts, systems, drawings, and specifications. Coordinate with clients, contractors, manufacturers, vendors, and internal project teams. Ensure structural designs meet Jackola's quality standards and project requirements. Utilize industry software to analyze gravity, lateral, and foundation loading systems. Support construction administration activities and respond to contractor questions during construction. Contribute to a positive team environment through technical leadership and professional collaboration.
Requirements:
Professional Engineer (PE) license in Structural or Civil Engineering. (SE designation preferred but not required.) 5+ years of experience following graduation from an accredited engineering program. Experience designing building structural systems utilizing wood, steel, concrete, and masonry. Strong understanding of building codes, structural analysis, and value engineering principles. Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities. Self-motivated and capable of working both independently and collaboratively. Strong written and verbal communication skills with exceptional attention to detail. Ability to mentor junior staff while managing project responsibilities and deadlines. Demonstrated flexibility, sound judgment, and strategic thinking to support long-term project and client goals. Proficiency with Microsoft 365, Bluebeam, Autodesk Revit, and industry-standard structural design software such as Enercalc, RISA, Simpson, or WoodWorks.
