Verdantas is seeking a Geotechnical Engineering Staff I to support subsurface investigations, geotechnical inspections, and construction projects throughout the New York, New Jersey, and tri-state region. This is an excellent opportunity for an early-career engineer looking to gain hands-on field and consulting experience. What You'll Do Perform soil sampling and subsurface investigations, including Standard Penetration Testing (SPT). Classify and document soil conditions and maintain accurate field records. Support geotechnical special inspections, pile observations, and earthwork monitoring. Prepare boring logs, field reports, and project documentation. Collaborate with project managers, drilling crews, technicians, and engineering staff. Assist with technical reports, CAD drafting, and geotechnical data management. What You'll Bring Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering. 1-2 years of geotechnical or related field experience. Knowledge of soil sampling and classification methods. Strong communication and organizational skills. Basic experience with CAD and geotechnical software preferred. Valid driver's license and willingness to travel to project sites. Preferred Experience with NYC DOB Special Inspections. Familiarity with rock coring or RQD logging. Flexibility to work occasional nights, weekends, and extended field assignments. Ability to lift up to 40 pounds and work outdoors on active construction sites. Willingness to travel as project needs require.
Salary Range:
The starting salary for this position is $70,000, with final compensation determined based on qualifications and licensing status.
