Duties, Responsibilities & Other KCI is seeking a motivated student for a Structural Engineer Internship to join our Bridge Structures team for Summer 2027. Summer interns will work a 40-hour week, with at least 10 weeks of work required during the period from mid-May to the end of August. Interns will be assigned a dedicated supervisor and mentor, are required to attend planned activities.

Responsibilities include:

Assist with structural design calculations, drawings, and specifications for bridges under the guidance of senior engineers.

Support structural modeling and analysis tasks.

Participate in inspection activities, including field data collection, reporting, and documentation.

Provide support in reviewing construction and shop drawings for compliance with design intent.

Accompany engineers on site visits to observe construction progress and verify field conditions.

Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams across various engineering disciplines.

Assist with the preparation of project reports, cost estimates, and proposals.

Gain exposure to industry design standards and requirements. Qualifications Education and/or

Skills Required:

This is an entry level position where no previous experience is required.

Currently enrolled in an ABET-Accredited College Engineering Program Education and/or

Work Experience Preferred:

3.0 GPA or higher Certificates, licenses, and/or

Registrations Required:

Valid Driver's License Pre-employment drug screening and background check are conditions of employment. Motor vehicle checks may be required based upon position.
