Job Title:
Project Engineer Job Description The Project Engineer manages the daily safety, quality, and execution of project work on large construction sites. This role plans and tracks work objectives, supports estimating and quantity take-offs, and collaborates closely with project teams to deliver safe, high-quality construction outcomes on schedule. Responsibilities Manage the daily safety, quality, and execution of assigned work objectives on large construction projects. Develop detailed plans to execute work objectives, including defining tasks, sequencing activities, and coordinating with field teams. Track progress against plans, analyze performance, and replan work based on feedback, changing conditions, and performance data. Actively use available resources, including managers and mentors, to fully understand project scope, schedule, and safety and quality plans. Support estimating activities by preparing and reviewing cost estimates for construction work. Perform quantity take-offs to determine material, labor, and equipment needs for specific scopes of work. Assist with slab-on-grade preparation, including reviewing drawings, coordinating with field crews, and verifying that work aligns with project specifications. Ensure that all work complies with project safety procedures, quality standards, and applicable codes and specifications. Communicate clearly with supervisors, field personnel, and other stakeholders to resolve issues and keep work progressing efficiently. Document work activities, quantities, and progress to support project controls, reporting, and forecasting. Essential Skills Experience in construction or construction management environments. Ability to manage daily safety, quality, and execution of construction work activities. Strong planning skills with the ability to develop, track, and adjust work plans based on feedback and performance. Proficiency in estimating and construction quantity take-offs. Knowledge of slab-on-grade preparation and related construction processes. Ability to interpret construction drawings, specifications, and schedules. Effective communication and collaboration skills for working with managers, mentors, and field teams. Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Construction Management or Engineering. Additional Skills & Qualifications Formal education in Construction Management or Engineering, at the Associate's or Bachelor's level. Interest in working on large, complex construction projects. Willingness to actively seek guidance from managers and mentors to expand technical and project knowledge. Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety and quality. Capability to adapt plans and priorities in a dynamic construction environment. Work Environment This role is fully onsite at large construction projects. The Project Engineer works in a field-based environment that includes active construction areas, heavy equipment, and changing site conditions. The position involves regular interaction with field crews, supervisors, and project leaders, and may require wearing appropriate personal protective equipment and following all site safety protocols. Work hours align with typical construction schedules, which may include early starts and extended days depending on project needs. Job Type & Location This is a Permanent position based out of Plain City, OH. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $60000.00 - $85000.00/yr.
