Construction Materials Testing Intern Portland, Oregon Internship Opportunity | Diamond E Testing Launch Your Career in Construction Materials Testing Diamond E Testing is seeking motivated and dependable interns to join our growing team in Portland, Oregon. This internship offers hands-on experience in construction materials testing and quality assurance while working alongside experienced technicians on real-world infrastructure and construction projects. This is an excellent opportunity for students, recent graduates, or individuals interested in construction, engineering, materials testing, or quality control careers. Internship Overview As a Construction Materials Testing Intern, you will assist with field and laboratory testing of construction materials including asphalt, concrete, aggregate, and soil. Interns will gain practical experience supporting projects such as highways, bridges, commercial developments, municipal infrastructure, airport runways, and roadway improvements throughout the region. Work is performed both outdoors on active construction sites and in laboratory settings. No prior experience is required — training will be provided. What You'll Learn & Do Assist with field and laboratory testing of asphalt, concrete, soil, and aggregate materials Observe construction operations and learn industry testing procedures Collect and prepare material samples for testing Support density testing, asphalt coring, and concrete testing activities Maintain daily testing logs and documentation Learn how to read project specifications and follow quality assurance procedures Work alongside experienced technicians, contractors, and engineers Develop communication, technical, and problem-solving skills in a professional environment Work Environment & Physical Requirements This internship involves hands-on outdoor work in active construction and industrial environments. Interns may work around heavy equipment, traffic zones, and hot asphalt materials in varying weather conditions.
Requirements include:
Ability to lift up to 50-75 pounds as needed Standing, walking, bending, and reaching for extended periods Dependability, punctuality, and willingness to learn Flexibility with work schedules and changing field conditions Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions Qualifications Interest in construction, engineering, quality control, or materials testing Strong work ethic and positive attitude Basic math and communication skills Valid driver's license preferred Ability to work safely and professionally on construction sites Students and recent graduates are encouraged to apply.
