Job Description

Drafter / Project Engineer Skyline Sheet Metal, Inc. manufactures and installs metal wall and roof cladding systems incorporating the latest advancements in building envelope science for both private and public-sector projects. Position Overview Skyline Sheet Metal is seeking a Drafter / Project Engineer to support our Project Management team at our headquarters in Troutdale, Oregon. The ideal candidate is a self-motivated, detail-oriented professional and team player with strong interpersonal and communication skills. This position will work closely with Project Managers to understand project requirements, develop solutions, and translate those requirements into accurate and detailed shop drawings and project documentation. Essential Responsibilities Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to: Prepare and develop shop drawings in AutoCAD in accordance with Skyline Sheet Metal standards and project requirements. Collaborate with Project Managers to develop and implement project-specific detailing requirements. Compile product information, technical data sheets, and other documentation for project submittals. Review RFIs, change orders, and other project documentation to identify potential impacts to Skyline Sheet Metal's scope of work. Track, document, and maintain records of project changes and related documentation. Perform material takeoffs and assist with material quantity calculations. Provide drafting, documentation, and other technical support to the Project Management team as needed. Assist with maintaining accurate and organized project records and documentation. Perform other related duties and responsibilities as assigned. Position Requirements Education & Experience Minimum of 2 years of combined education, certifications, and/or professional experience in AutoCAD drafting or a related field. Construction industry experience is preferred but not required. Required Knowledge & Skills Intermediate or greater proficiency in the following: AutoCAD Microsoft Excel Microsoft Word Ability to read and interpret construction documents, plans, specifications, and details Strong attention to detail and accuracy Effective written and verbal communication skills Ability to prioritize multiple projects and meet deadlines Ability to work independently while also collaborating effectively with Project Managers and other team members Preferred Knowledge & Skills Experience or familiarity with the following is desirable: Revit Autodesk Inventor Bluebeam Revu / Bluebeam CAD Google SketchUp CNC programming Other 3D modeling or drafting software Ideal Candidate The successful candidate will be organized, dependable, detail-oriented, and comfortable working in a fast-paced construction environment. They should demonstrate initiative, problem-solving skills, a willingness to learn, and the ability to adapt to changing project requirements.
