JOB SUMMARY
Performs skilled technical work involving the operation, maintenance, inspection, and repair of City-owned buildings and mechanical equipment. Responsibilities include maintaining heating, ventilation, air conditioning, refrigeration, plumbing, electrical, and mechanical systems to ensure safe, efficient, and continuous operation of public facilities. The duties of this job include, but are not limited to: 1. Observe meters and gauges to determine operating condition of equipment. Read blueprints and schematics. 2. Walk building floors and offices, check temperatures and adjust as needed. 3. Make adjustments or minor repairs to ensure efficient performance of equipment. 4. Maintain maintenance logs and inspection records (e.g. temperatures of equipment, hours of operation, sight glass levels, vacuum manometer readings). 5. Dismantle, clean, oil, lubricate and reassemble equipment as required. 6. Operate, inspect, and maintain furnaces, unit heaters, boilers, and hot water systems. 7. Maintain motors, pumps, air handlers, and air distribution systems. 8. Service rooftop HVAC units and ventilation equipment. 9. Operate chiller systems and cooling towers. 10. Maintain hot water tanks and domestic water systems. 11. Operate emergency generators. 12. Maintain air compressors and compressed air systems. 13. Inspect and test backflow prevention devices. 14. Maintain a preventive maintenance program on all equipment. 15. Maintain garage door operators. 16. Work with all inspectors to ensure proper equipment licensing. 17. Respond to emergency calls. 18. Perform other similar and related duties as required.
QUALIFICATIONS
Must hold a City of Erie, 2nd Class Engineer's License or above. Three (3) to five (5) years building experience, air conditioning, boilers, etc. Valid PA Driver's License.
TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT
Systems:
heat, sewer, water (fresh and hot), fire sprinkler, electrical distribution, control, condensate, condenser water, chill water, air supply, exhaust, melting systems. Small hand tools, pipe wrenches, impact wrench, chainfall, grease guns, and torsion wrench.

From $30.39 per hour
