The Civil/Structural Field Engineer is responsible for providing field engineering support, technical oversight, and coordination of civil and structural construction activities for the HCR Power Block project. Reporting to the Civil/Structural Engineering Discipline Lead, this position serves as a key member of the Owner's Team and works closely with EPC contractors, OEMs, construction teams, and quality personnel to ensure that all civil and structural work is installed in accordance with the Kiewit Standard Design, project specifications, applicable codes, and contractual requirements. The Civil/Structural Field Engineer supports safe, high-quality, and efficient project execution through field verification, issue resolution, constructability reviews, and as-built documentation.
JOB DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES
Support the Civil/Structural Engineering Discipline Lead in overseeing field execution of civil and structural construction activities. Verify that civil and structural installations are completed in accordance with approved drawings, specifications, IFC documents, codes, and Kiewit Standard Design requirements. Perform routine field inspections and walkdowns to assess construction progress, identify deficiencies, and verify installation quality. Coordinate with EPC contractors, subcontractors, and other engineering disciplines to resolve field engineering issues and support construction activities. Review and evaluate requests for information (RFIs), field change requests, and engineering revisions related to civil and structural work. Assist with the implementation and tracking of field engineering changes and ensure accurate documentation of as-built conditions. Record and maintain as-built modifications on project drawings and engineering documents. Support constructability reviews and provide recommendations to improve installation efficiency, quality, and safety. Monitor contractor compliance with project quality requirements, approved procedures, and engineering standards. Participate in system turnover activities, punch list development, and completion verification for civil and structural systems. Support field testing, inspections, and acceptance activities associated with foundations, structural steel, concrete, underground utilities, roads, drainage systems, and other civil/structural infrastructure. Assist in identifying technical risks, constructability concerns, and potential schedule impacts, and communicate findings to project leadership. Ensure all work activities are executed in accordance with site safety requirements, permit-to-work processes, and lockout/tagout procedures where applicable. Support project document control processes by ensuring engineering records, field reports, and construction documentation are accurately maintained. Participate in coordination meetings and provide updates regarding field engineering activities, progress, and issues requiring resolution. Support commissioning, turnover, and final acceptance activities by verifying completion of civil and structural scope and associated documentation. Promote a culture of safety, quality, accountability, and continuous improvement throughout project execution.
EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION
Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, Construction Engineering, or a related engineering discipline. Minimum 5 years of experience in civil or structural engineering, field engineering, construction management, or project execution on large industrial, infrastructure, power generation, or energy projects. Experience supporting construction activities involving foundations, structural steel, concrete placement, underground utilities, roads, drainage systems, and related civil infrastructure. Experience with combined cycle power plants, substations, switchyards, or other large-scale energy projects preferred. Familiarity with applicable engineering codes, standards, and construction practices related to civil and structural work. Experience reviewing construction drawings, specifications, RFIs, and field change documentation.
