Job details Posted 01 September 2026 Start date 06 August 2026 Salary Range USD 0 0 per Per Hour Location Ferndale Job type Contract Discipline Oil Gas and Chemicals Reference 169521 Job Function Project Engineer Civil/Structural Engineer Overview TRS Staffing Solutions is seeking a Civil/Structural Engineer for a growing engineering and project services organization supporting major industrial and refinery capital projects in the Pacific Northwest. This opportunity is ideal for an engineer with 5-8 years of experience who is looking to work on complex brownfield facility upgrades, seismic evaluations, structural modifications, and capital improvement projects. The selected candidate will collaborate closely with multidisciplinary engineering teams and clients while supporting projects from design through construction. Responsibilities Structural Engineering & Design Design steel and concrete structures for industrial facilities, including buildings, equipment foundations, pipe racks, platforms, and infrastructure systems. Develop structural calculations, analyses, and engineering design packages. Perform seismic evaluations and support retrofit designs for existing facilities. Ensure designs comply with applicable codes, standards, and project requirements. Civil & Site Development Support grading, drainage, and stormwater management efforts. Participate in constructability reviews and structural assessments. Assist with site investigations and code compliance activities. Project Execution Prepare and review engineering drawings, specifications, and construction documents. Develop scopes of work and technical specifications. Provide construction support and respond to RFIs as needed. Coordinate engineering deliverables throughout the project lifecycle. Team Collaboration Work closely with designers, project managers, and engineers across multiple disciplines. Participate in design reviews and client coordination meetings. Review project deliverables for technical accuracy and completeness. Safety & Quality Promote safe design practices and compliance with company and client safety requirements. Ensure quality standards are maintained throughout project execution. Support continuous improvement initiatives and best engineering practices. Qualifications Required Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or Structural Engineering. 5-8 years of civil/structural engineering experience. Experience supporting industrial, refinery, petrochemical, energy, manufacturing, or heavy industrial facilities. Strong knowledge of steel and concrete structural design. Experience developing engineering calculations and structural analyses. Experience preparing and reviewing construction documents and specifications. Familiarity with seismic design and retrofit projects. Strong communication and teamwork skills. Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Bluebeam or similar document review software. Preferred Professional Engineer (PE) License or actively pursuing licensure. Experience supporting refinery or downstream oil & gas facilities.
EPC/EPCM

3 days onsite in Ferndale, WA 2 days remote Work-from-home flexibility typically available on Mondays and Fridays. Every other Friday off. Local travel approximately one day per week. Less than 10% overnight travel. Project Requirements Ability to obtain and maintain a TWIC card if required. Ability to complete client-specific safety training and site onboarding requirements. Ability to pass background screening and federally mandated drug/alcohol testing. Authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.
