An exciting opportunity is available to join Gewalt Hamilton Associates (GHA), an employee-owned, multi-faceted civil engineering and land surveying company that has built a reputation of civil engineering with a personal approach. We are seeking a Engineer I to join our growing Construction and Survey team in Vernon Hills, IL. How you will make an impact: The Engineer I will report to the Division Director and perform construction observation, construction inspection, and assist engineering staff with preparation of designs, plans, and specifications. We seek coachable and motivated individuals who demonstrate strong organizational and communication skills and who can manage a variety of public and private market clients. This role is an exempt, salaried position. We offer a hybrid work environment.
Responsibilities:
Read, interpret and comprehend engineering plans and contract specifications. Perform engineering and related duties associated with construction inspection and layout to ensure compliance with the Contract Documents. Perform construction contract administration and documentation. Communicate with GHA Project Manager(s) and clients on a continuous basis. Assist engineering staff in the preparation and production of engineering designs, plans, contract specifications, and construction project cost estimates. Why GHA? Education:
Bachelor's or associate degree in an engineering technical field. IDOT Documentation of Contract Quantities Certification preferred. Valid US driver's license.
Experience:
Minimum of 0-5 years of construction management or related experience
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Clearly and concisely communicate both orally and in writing. Strong organizational and interpersonal skills. Be proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Planner, Teams).
