Job details Posted 11 August 2026 Start date 06 August 2026 Salary Range USD 0 0 per Per Hour Location Ferndale Job type Contract Discipline Oil Gas and Chemicals Reference 169522 Job Function Project Engineer Senior Civil/Structural Engineer Overview TRS Staffing Solutions is seeking a Senior Civil/Structural Engineer to support major industrial and refinery capital projects throughout the Pacific Northwest. This position offers the opportunity to lead complex engineering efforts involving facility upgrades, seismic retrofits, site development, structural modifications, and industrial infrastructure projects. The ideal candidate will bring extensive experience in civil and structural engineering within refinery, oil & gas, energy, or other heavy industrial environments and possess a strong background leading projects, mentoring engineers, and coordinating multidisciplinary teams. This role combines technical leadership, client interaction, and project execution in a collaborative EPCM environment. Key Responsibilities Structural Engineering & Design Lead the analysis and design of steel and concrete structures for industrial facilities. Design buildings, equipment foundations, pipe racks, platforms, and supporting infrastructure. Develop structural calculations, engineering reports, and design packages. Support seismic evaluations and retrofit design projects. Review and approve engineering deliverables for technical accuracy and quality. Civil Engineering & Site Development Support grading, drainage, stormwater, and earthwork design activities. Perform constructability reviews and structural investigations. Ensure compliance with applicable building codes and industry standards. Project Leadership Lead civil/structural engineering scope on assigned projects. Develop project execution plans, estimates, scopes of work, and technical specifications. Coordinate engineering activities to meet project budgets and schedules. Provide technical leadership, mentorship, and oversight to engineers and designers. Participate in project planning, design reviews, and client meetings. Construction Support Review construction documents and specifications. Respond to RFIs and support field construction activities. Conduct site visits and coordinate with project stakeholders as required. Collaboration & Quality Coordinate closely with BIM/CAD design teams and multidisciplinary engineering groups. Work directly with clients, vendors, and project teams. Maintain high standards of safety, quality, and technical excellence throughout project execution. Required Qualifications Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering (ABET preferred). Minimum 10+ years of Civil/Structural Engineering experience. Experience supporting refinery, oil & gas, energy, petrochemical, manufacturing, or heavy industrial projects. Professional Engineer ( PE ) License required. Ability to obtain Washington PE licensure if not currently licensed in the state.
Strong knowledge of:
Structural steel design Reinforced concrete design Seismic analysis and retrofit design Industrial facility design Building codes and industry standards Experience preparing and reviewing engineering drawings and specifications. Experience leading projects and mentoring engineering staff. Strong communication and client-facing skills. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and Bluebeam. Preferred Qualifications Refinery project experience. Brownfield capital project experience. PreviousEPC/EPCM
project experience. Proven experience leading multidisciplinary project teams. Experience leveraging AI-assisted engineering tools while maintaining engineering accountability and responsible charge. Work Schedule & Location Hybrid Schedule Tuesday through Thursday onsite Monday and Friday remote Every other Friday off Location Options Ferndale, WA Billings, MT Remote candidates within 50 miles of Salt Lake City, UT may be considered Travel Requirements Local client travel approximately one day per week. Occasional project-related travel. Less than 10% overnight travel. Additional Requirements Ability to obtain and maintain a TWIC Card. Ability to obtain required client safety certifications and site badges. HHFT Safety Training certification or ability to obtain. Successful completion of background screening.
