Structural Engineer (North Carolina PE Required) - Remote / Field - North Carolina LB Engineering | Full-time | 100% Remote + Field Work | Wilmington, Raleigh, Fayetteville & Surrounding Areas US candidates only. Position Overview LB Engineering is seeking a Structural Engineer who is currently licensed as a Professional Engineer (PE) in the State of North Carolina. An active North Carolina PE license is required for this position. Candidates who are not currently licensed as a PE in North Carolina will not be considered. This is a 100% remote position with a mix of home-office engineering work and field work. There is no required daily company office location. We are looking for candidates located in or around Wilmington, Raleigh, Fayetteville, or neighboring North Carolina communities who can perform field inspections and site visits as needed throughout the region. Engineers at all experience levels are encouraged to apply, from newly licensed North Carolina PEs to seasoned project leaders. You will be joining and helping shape a rapidly growing engineering company. The ideal candidate is a self-starter who meets deadlines, manages multiple projects, communicates well, and is comfortable working independently. Responsibilities Design and analyze structures across a wide range of project types, including single-family residential, multifamily, high-rise buildings, schools, hospitals, jails, apartment buildings, and other commercial and institutional projects Perform structural inspections and site visits throughout your assigned North Carolina territory Prepare field reports, structural calculations, drawings, and construction documents Lead projects independently or with senior support, depending on experience Serve as Engineer of Record and sign and seal deliverables, with responsibility scaled to experience level Coordinate with architects, contractors, owners, and internal teams Participate in client, architect, and contractor calls and represent the firm professionally Perform quality control and follow internal design standards Maintain awareness of project scope, schedules, and budgets For experienced candidates, provide redlines and technical direction and mentor drafters, EITs, and junior engineers Ensure compliance with applicable North Carolina building codes and structural design standards Requirements Active Professional Engineer (PE) license in the State of North Carolina - REQUIRED Structural engineering experience Located in or near Wilmington, Raleigh, Fayetteville, or surrounding North Carolina areas Ability and willingness to travel locally for field inspections and site visits Reliable transportation for field work Reliable home-office workspace Clear communication with clients, consultants, contractors, and internal teams Organized, detail-oriented, and accountable Self-starter who can manage projects and responsibilities without constant oversight This Role Is 100% remote with field work No required daily company office location A combination of engineering/design work from home and in-person field inspections Open only to engineers currently licensed as a PE in North Carolina Open to newly licensed PEs through senior-level structural engineers Focused on Wilmington, Raleigh, Fayetteville, and surrounding North Carolina markets Compensation and Growth Competitive compensation based on experience Opportunity for long-term growth and leadership responsibility within a rapidly growing company Stable workload across diverse project types Opportunity to take ownership of projects and help grow LB Engineering's North Carolina presence
