Technical Configuration Engineer - Building Management Systems (BMS) / Smart Spaces Info Way Group - 4.3 San Diego, CA Job Details Full-time | Contract $55 - $58 an hour 1 day ago Qualifications Systems integration Data Integration (Data management) RESTful API CCP Data Engineer Energy management Software implementation Maintaining data pipelines Network protocols Full Job Description Position Overview We are seeking a Technical Configuration Engineer with deep domain expertise in Building Management Systems (BMS), Smart Spaces, and IoT platform integration. In this role, you will lead site-level configurations, data source onboarding, and edge device deployments to support our enterprise Smart Building IoT implementation. The ideal candidate possesses strong technical troubleshooting skills across building automation protocols, experience with cloud/edge software platforms (such as Kode OS), and the flexibility to perform both remote configuration and hands-on, on-site hardware installations.
Key Responsibilities Site Configuration & Onboarding:
Execute remote per-site configuration of Kode OS and oversee data source onboarding, historical data backfill, and point mapping.
Energy Module Integration:
Configure and validate "Enable On" Energy module integrations to enable smart building automation and energy management tracking.
Edge Hardware Deployment:
Provide on-site and remote installation support for Nook hardware devices; manage physical connectivity, gateway configurations, and network validation.
Technical Troubleshooting:
Serve as Tier-2 technical support for site connectivity, data ingestion, edge-to-cloud telemetry, and sensor pipeline failures.
Landlord & BMS Integration Workarounds:
Collaborate with facility teams and landlords to architect technical workarounds for legacy, proprietary, or restrictive landlord-managed BMS networks.
Field Support & Travel:
Provide hands-on, on-site support at client locations in/around the San Diego region and travel to project sites as required.
Required Qualifications & Technical Skills Industry Experience:
3+ years of experience working with Building Management Systems (BMS), Smart Buildings, Building Automation Systems (BAS), or IoT Edge Implementations.
Platform & Hardware Proficiency:
Hands-on experience with cloud-based Smart Space platforms (experience with Kode OS is highly preferred) and edge installation hardware (e.g., Nook devices, gateways).
Protocol & Data Schema Knowledge:
Understanding of standard building automation and IoT protocols (BACnet, Modbus, MQTT, Niagara, REST APIs).
Data Integration & Backfill:
Demonstrated ability to map data points, configure source backfills, and troubleshoot data pipelines.
Problem Solving:
Proven ability to engineer custom integration workarounds for restricted legacy BMS architectures or landlord-controlled environments.
Pay:
$55.00 - $58.00 per hour Application Question(s): 3+ years of experience working with Building Management Systems (BMS), Smart Buildings, Building Automation Systems (BAS), or IoT Edge Implementations.
