Job Description

Project Engineer Project Engineer - Construction / Data Center (Mission Critical) Position Overview We are seeking an organized, proactive Project Engineer to support delivery of construction and mission-critical data center projects. The role assists Project Managers with day-to-day project coordination, schedule and budget tracking, subcontractor management, quality and safety oversight, and client communications to ensure projects are completed on time, on budget, and to specification. Key Responsibilities Support the Project Manager in planning, executing, and closing construction and data center projects. Maintain and update project schedules, monitor milestones, and coordinate site activities to keep work on track. Track project budgets and costs, process invoices, support forecasting, and assist with change order documentation. Coordinate subcontractors, vendors, and internal teams to ensure timely delivery of materials and services. Prepare and manage RFIs, submittals, change orders, and project documentation; maintain accurate records and document control. Conduct regular site inspections to verify work quality, compliance with specifications, and adherence to safety procedures. Facilitate project meetings with clients, contractors, and consultants; prepare meeting minutes and follow-up action items. Assist with commissioning, start-up activities, and project closeout including punch lists, turnover documentation, and warranty handovers. Identify project risks and issues, propose mitigation plans, and escalate to the Project Manager as needed. Support procurement and logistics for critical long-lead items and specialty equipment common to data centers (UPS, generators, PDUs, chillers). Coordinate with MEP/controls teams to verify integration of electrical, mechanical, cooling, and fire protection systems for mission-critical redundancy and uptime requirements. Qualifications Bachelors degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or related field, or equivalent work experience. 2+ years of experience in construction project support; experience with data center or other mission-critical facilities strongly preferred. Familiarity with construction project management processes: scheduling, budgeting, change management, RFIs, submittals, and closeout. Proficient with project management tools (e.g., Procore, MS Project, Primavera) and MS Office (Excel, Word, Outlook). Working knowledge of MEP systems and mission-critical infrastructure (UPS, generators, power distribution, cooling systems, redundancy concepts). Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to prepare clear reports and interact with clients, subcontractors, and senior management. Problem-solving mindset with proactive approach to risk identification and mitigation.
Relevant certifications a plus:
OSHA 30, PMP or CAPM, Construction Manager-in-Training (CMIT) or other industry credentials. Ability to work on-site as required, travel between project locations, and possess a valid drivers license.
