Job Description

ROLE - Senior Structural Engineer (Light Frame Construction)
ABOUT THE ROLE
An established structural engineering firm is seeking a Senior Structural Engineer to lead structural design projects, mentor junior engineers, manage client relationships, and oversee project delivery from concept through completion. This position is ideal for a licensed Professional Engineer with extensive experience in structural engineering, light-frame construction, and project leadership. The role involves performing structural analysis and design, reviewing engineering calculations and drawings, ensuring code compliance, conducting site visits, and providing technical leadership to junior staff. The successful candidate will play a key role in maintaining engineering quality standards while managing multiple projects and client expectations.
SPOT REQUIREMENT
Active PE (Professional Engineer) license required Minimum 8 years of structural engineering experience Minimum 5 years of light-frame construction experience At least 3 years of project management and/or client management experience Strong experience reviewing and approving structural calculations, plans, and engineering deliverables Experience with structural design software such as ForteWeb, Revit, RISA 3D, and other structural analysis tools preferred
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Perform preliminary structural layouts and determine structural systems, load paths, and construction methods Manage project schedules, client communications, and project coordination activities Lead, mentor, and develop junior engineering staff Review and approve structural calculations, plans, drawings, and details prepared by junior engineers Ensure engineering deliverables meet company standards, code requirements, and architectural design criteria Conduct site visits and prepare structural observation reports as required Ensure projects comply with applicable building codes, design standards, and industry best practices Support continuous improvement of engineering processes and design procedures Coordinate project execution with internal teams and external stakeholders
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering with an emphasis in Structural Engineering PE License required 8+ years of structural engineering experience 5+ years of light-frame construction experience Experience managing projects and client relationships Proficiency with structural analysis and design software including ForteWeb, Revit, and related tools Strong knowledge of
IBC, IRC, ASCE 7, NDS, AISC 360, ACI 318, TMS
402, and other structural design standards Strong leadership, mentoring, communication, and technical review skills
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS SE
(Structural Engineer) License Experience with Bluebeam Revu Experience with RISA 3D and ForteWeb Ability to travel up to 25% as needed
