Job Description

Kinley Construction Group Kinley Construction Group is looking for a Project Engineer I to join our growing team. This is an opportunity to build a career in industrial construction while gaining hands-on experience across the full lifecycle of a project—from preconstruction and planning through field execution and closeout. Our Project Engineers work alongside Project Managers, Superintendents, subcontractors, vendors, and clients to help keep projects organized, informed, and moving forward. You won't just observe the work—you'll be an active part of the project team, learning the business while taking ownership of key project responsibilities. What You'll Do As a Project Engineer I, you will: Support Project Managers and field leadership with the planning and execution of construction projects. Assist with project documentation, including RFIs, submittals, change documentation, meeting minutes, daily reports, and closeout requirements. Review project drawings, specifications, contracts, and scopes of work to develop a strong understanding of project requirements. Help maintain project schedules, track milestones, and identify items that could impact project progress. Support project cost management by tracking commitments, purchase orders, subcontractor costs, quantities, and other project expenses. Coordinate with subcontractors, vendors, suppliers, field teams, and internal departments to keep information and materials moving. Assist with procurement and material tracking to ensure project needs are identified and addressed in advance. Participate in project meetings, site walks, planning discussions, and coordination with clients and project stakeholders. Help identify potential project risks, conflicts, or scope gaps and work with the project team to resolve them before they impact execution. Maintain accurate and organized project records in accordance with Kinley processes and standards. Support project quality and safety expectations and reinforce Kinley's commitment to performing work the right way. Develop an understanding of field operations, labor, equipment, materials, subcontractor management, cost control, and overall project performance. Build strong working relationships with field employees, clients, subcontractors, vendors, and fellow Kinley team members. Take increasing ownership of project responsibilities as knowledge, experience, and capability grow. What We're Looking For Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field preferred; equivalent construction experience, training, and demonstrated ability will also be considered. Previous construction experience through employment, internships, co-ops, or field experience is preferred. Strong interest in building a career in industrial and infrastructure construction. Ability to read and develop an understanding of construction drawings, specifications, scopes, and technical documentation. Strong organization and attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple priorities. Effective written and verbal communication skills. Willingness to ask questions, learn quickly, solve problems, and take ownership. Comfortable working in both office and active construction environments. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, Word, and Outlook. Experience with Procore, scheduling software, or other construction management systems is a plus. Ability to work effectively with individuals at all levels, from field professionals and field leadership to clients and company executives. A team-first mindset and commitment to Kinley's culture, safety expectations, and core values. Why Kinley? We believe ability is built through exposure, ownership, mentorship, and experience, and we want our Project Engineers to develop into the next generation of Project Managers and construction leaders at Kinley. You'll gain exposure to project management, field operations, cost control, scheduling, procurement, subcontractor management, client relationships, safety, and quality while working alongside experienced construction professionals.
