Description Team Leader, Construction Engineering & Inspection (CEI), Austin, TX | Midland, TX Halff is seeking a CEI Team Leader in our Austin, TX and Midland, TX locations. The ideal candidate would bring experience managing inspection and testing teams, managing projects or coordinating tasks of moderate size and complexity, making decisions independently and resolving complex problems. What you will do:
Responsible for the management, growth, and leadership of the Construction Engineering and Inspection Teams in South and West Texas
Provide technical guidance, mentorship, and leadership to project administrators, and inspectors
Provide project management and oversight as the CEI Senior Project Engineer for current and future projects within Texas
The successful candidate will manage CEI Construction Services projects, and operations for Austin, Midland and surrounding counties in
South and West Texas:
Lead pursuits for CEI opportunities with local government and TxDOT
Provide leadership, supervision, training, and development to CEI project administrators, and inspectors
Provide CEI Senior Project Engineer duties as per TxDOT standard scope of services to current and future projects
Lead by example in Safety and Quality Manage budgets, personnel, schedules, sub consultants, and client interaction
Support operations managers and practice leaders in business development and pursuit of construction engineering and inspection opportunities What you will need: Bachelor's degree or master's degree in civil engineering or ABET accredited equivalent engineering degree
Professional Engineer (PE) License in the State of Texas
Valid Texas Driver's License
10+ years of experience in roadway design and managing projects for DOT and/or municipal projects, preferably in Texas
Thorough knowledge of inspection methods and techniques, construction materials, methods, and equipment, trade processes and safety procedures
Ability to lead complex transportation projects, including project design, financials, and schedules
Ability to read and interpret contract drawings, specifications and CPM schedules for projects
Ability to assist in evaluation of contractor claims
Ability to apply requirements of contract documents to construction issues problems
A good knowledge of laboratory testing methods and the ability to read and interpret reported test results
Knowledge and understanding of Texas Testing Methods
Knowledge and practical understanding of the TxDOT Construction Project Administration Manual
Strong technical ability and be able to provide guidance to technical staff with a commitment to quality
