Amstar, Inc. is a San Antonio-based general contractor with more than 25 years of experience delivering commercial, government, and public-sector construction projects throughout Texas and the Southwest. Our work includes Job Order Contracting (JOC), government contracts, design-build, construction management, ground-up construction, renovations, facility improvements, and other complex construction projects. We are looking for motivated engineering and construction students who want more than an internship - we want to help develop the next generation of construction project leaders. About the Opportunity The Project Engineer Intern will work alongside Amstar's Project Management and Field Operations teams to gain hands-on experience throughout the construction project lifecycle. This is an excellent opportunity for a student who is interested in building a long-term career in construction project management and wants to learn what it takes to successfully manage projects from preconstruction through completion. You will have the opportunity to work with experienced construction professionals while developing practical skills in project coordination, construction documentation, scheduling, cost management, subcontractor coordination, and client communication. What You'll Do
- Assist Project Managers with day-to-day project coordination and administration
- Review construction drawings, specifications, scopes of work, and project documentation
- Assist with RFIs, submittals, change orders, meeting minutes, and other project documentation
- Support project scheduling and tracking of project milestones
- Assist with subcontractor and vendor coordination
- Help track project costs, commitments, invoices, and other financial documentation
- Participate in project meetings and communicate with internal teams, subcontractors, vendors, and project stakeholders
- Assist with project closeout documentation
- Visit active construction sites to gain exposure to field operations and project execution
- Learn how Project Managers and Superintendents coordinate to deliver projects safely, on schedule, and within budget
- Take on additional responsibilities as your knowledge and experience grow What We're Looking For
- Currently pursuing a bachelor's degree in Construction Science, Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Architectural Engineering, or a related field
- Strong interest in pursuing a career in construction project management
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- Ability to read and understand basic construction drawings and project documentation
- Comfortable working in both an office and active construction-site environment
- Strong attention to detail and willingness to learn
- Ability to work independently while also contributing to a team
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and Outlook
- Professional attitude and strong work ethic Preferred Qualifications
- Previous construction, engineering, estimating, or project management internship experience
- Familiarity with construction management software such as Procore or similar platforms
- Familiarity with Bluebeam, Microsoft Project, or scheduling software
- OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification

Compensation & Schedule Pay:
$20.00-$22.00 per hour
Internship Term:
Semester-based Schedule and internship term will be coordinated around the student's academic schedule and Amstar's project needs. Why Amstar?
