Job Description

Jacobs is seeking a Structural Engineering Intern to join our Ports and Maritime team in Bellevue, Washington in Summer 2027, working on projects that bring innovative solutions to our clients' challenges locally and worldwide. This is an exciting opportunity for you to join our team and be involved in a variety of engineering tasks for both private and public sector clients; such as design, analysis, and maintenance of various structural systems including bridges, and other infrastructure projects. In this position you will work with a multidisciplinary team taking on a variety of tasks that blend your theoretical knowledge with practical application. Under the guidance of professional engineers, architects and other senior technical staff you will work on design, analysis, and delivery of projects ranging from local waterfront projects to large scale international port developments in the cruise, cargo and ferry industries. We'll provide you with the challenge of working on coordination and design of new marine structures as well as structural rehabilitation and retrofit projects.
Your Responsibilities May Include:
  • Assist in the preparation of structural calculations/designs, contract drawings and specifications, cost estimates, construction schedules, engineering reports, and construction/field reports
  • Review submittals, RFIs, and drawing/specification packages for conformance with contract documents.
  • Learn and engage in the design of maritime structures from urban waterfront parks to ports supporting offshore wind farm developments, and more
  • In pursuit of a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from an ABET accredited institution
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs
Ideally, You Will Have:
  • Pursuing a Master's Degree in Civil Engineering and/or Structural Engineering
  • 3.0 GPA
  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD
  • A previous internship related to Ports and Maritime
