Job Description

The Geotechnical Engineer I, under general supervision works with our highly skilled senior engineering staff and CAD technicians to develop design submittals for deep foundation and ground improvement systems to be built by Michels Construction. Design submittals will consist of drawings and supporting calculations developed by applying geotechnical and structural engineering principles through a combination of analytical methods and state-of-the-art computer modeling software. Types of design may include, but are not limited to, rigid inclusions, aggregate piers, soil mixing, compaction grouting, chemical grouting, and dynamic compaction. You may also occasionally be asked to assist with designs for deep foundations or other Geostructural systems. Michels works on all types and sizes of projects, including commercial buildings, highways and bridges, industrial facilities, civil infrastructure, marine structures, and military facilities. As design engineer, you will also be involved with preliminary engineering for prospective projects during bid-time, and with QA/QC review during production phases.
