We build commercial, industrial, and agricultural/food-processing electrical projects across the Yakima Valley, Kittitas County, Walla Walla, and the Columbia Basin, from ground-up construction to plant expansions and controls work. We are hiring a Project Engineer to support our project managers and field crews from preconstruction through closeout. This is the person who keeps paperwork, materials, and information moving so the crews in the field never wait on us. What You Will Do Prepare, log, and track submittals through GC and engineer approval Write and track RFIs; chase down answers and get responses to the field Take off and order material; issue purchase orders and track deliveries against the schedule Price and document change orders and T&M tickets, including on prevailing wage projects Maintain job cost tracking: labor hours, committed costs, and budget vs. actual by phase Keep drawing sets current and distribute revisions to field leadership Support scheduling and three-week look-aheads; coordinate with GCs and other trades Assemble closeout packages: O&M manuals, as-builts, and warranties Attend project meetings and site walks; document and follow up on action items What We Are Looking For 2+ years in construction project engineering, estimating, or PM support; electrical or a related trade preferred Comfortable reading electrical drawings, one-lines, panel schedules, and specifications Strong Excel skills and general comfort with construction software (Procore, Bluebeam, or similar) Clear, organized written communication; this role lives in email, RFI logs, and submittal registers Able to juggle several active jobs and hold your own deadlines Valid driver's license and willingness to visit job sites across Central and Eastern Washington Nice To Have Working familiarity with the NEC and standard electrical submittal requirements Experience with public works / prevailing wage projects and certified payroll Estimating exposure (Accubid, ConEst, or similar takeoff software) A two- or four-year degree in construction management, electrical technology, or engineering, or equivalent field experience Why 509 Electric Competitive pay based on experience Vehicle or vehicle allowance for job site travel A small-company environment where you see the whole project instead of one narrow slice, and where your work visibly affects whether crews stay productive Direct access to ownership; your ideas about how we run jobs will actually get heard 509 Electric is an equal opportunity employer.
