TRB + Associates is seeking an experienced and motivated Senior Engineering Technician to perform advanced technical and sub-professional engineering work in both office and field environments. This role supports municipal Building and Public Works functions by reviewing plans, assisting with permit processes, conducting field inspections, and responding to public and client inquiries. The position requires a strong working knowledge of civil engineering principles, primarily developed through practical experience, and the ability to work with increasing independence on complex assignments. Locations:

Lincoln, CA Essential job duties and responsibilities of the role include:

• Perform an independent review of engineering plans, maps, and specifications for compliance with applicable municipal standards and requirements.
• Prepare and revise technical drawings, maps, and layouts.
• Maintain engineering records, files, and database systems.
• Conduct field inspections for public works and construction projects.
• Assist with surveying and field data collection activities.
• Perform traffic counts and speed surveys as assigned.
• Prepare technical reports and documentation related to assigned projects.
• Respond to inquiries from the public, clients, and contractors regarding building, zoning, grading, and encroachment permits.
• Coordinate and help resolve issues between agencies, contractors, and stakeholders.
• Support permit processing and general engineering review functions.
• Establish and maintain good working relations with the public, development community, city staff, and others contacted during work, serving as a liaison to multiple agencies.
• Be able to manage a wide range of duties in an effective manner, including timely plan processing and routing and coordinating with discipline managers (e.g., Planning, Engineering, and Building).
• Respond and assist in the resolution of development-related inquiries and complaints.

Evaluate alternative solutions, develop, and present recommendations to supervisors and staff.

Job Requirements:

Experience:

• Four (4) years of progressively responsible experience in civil engineering, building inspection, or municipal planning, including plan review, engineering analysis, or permit processing
• An associate degree in an engineering-related field may substitute for up to two (2) years of required experience OR
• One (1) year of experience performing duties equivalent to an Engineering Technician within a municipal or similar environment

Education:

• High school diploma or equivalent required
• An associate degree in civil engineering, building inspection, or a related field is preferred Licenses & Requirements
• Valid California driver's license

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Knowledge of:

• Principles and practices of civil engineering, surveying, and drafting
• Municipal engineering standards and permitting processes
• Computer systems, databases, and engineering-related software Ability to:
• Review plans and specifications for compliance with engineering requirements
• Prepare maps, layouts, and cost estimates
• Perform basic engineering calculations
• Conduct field surveys and inspections
• Gather, interpret, and organize technical data
