You will serve as a Engineering Technician (Civil) with Bureau of Safety and Environmental Enforcement. In this position, you will assist the Chief of the Office of Structural and Technical Support and the engineering staff in regulating the Gulf of America Region (GOAR) offshore platforms and to ensure the efficient and timely gathering, processing, and review of industry supplied data.

Qualifications:

Competitive candidates must also meet Time-in-Grade requirements as defined in 5 CFR 300, Subpart F. For current Federal employees, if hours worked per week are not included on your resume, you must submit a non-award SF-50 as part of your application to be used to validate your work schedule and determine the amount of specialized experience that you will be granted. An award SF-50 will not be acceptable documentation for which to consider your amount of qualifying experience . For periods of time that reflect military service, the DD-214 or Statement of Service is sufficient to meet the work schedule requirement as the service dates will be reflected. Applicants must have one full year of specialized experience comparable in scope and responsibility to the GS-08 grade level in the Federal service (obtained either in the private or public sectors) performing the following: 1.Executing detailed database queries, managing applications and reports within technical information management systems,and/or focusing on accuracy and compliance with established standards AND 2.Supporting engineering teams by reviewing technical documents, including engineering reports and/or inspection surveys AND 3.Reviewing submittals and reports to identify issues with regulatory requirements and policies and/or verify completeness of all necessary documents and fees AND 4.Responding to inquiries related to regulatory and procedural issues and/or providing guidance on report submissions and permitting processes.

OR Education:

Successful completion of at least two full years (36 semester hours) of graduate level education leading to a master's or a completed master's degree in an appropriate field of study such as engineering, engineering or industrial technology, construction, physics, drafting, surveying, physical science or mathematics.

OR Combination:

An equivalent combination of specialized experience and graduate level education as described above, when combined, equal 100% of the total requirement.
