Senior Civil Engineer P.E. - Tech LeadPosition OverviewWe are seeking a Senior Civil Engineer P.E. to serve as Technical Lead on multidisciplinary infrastructure and environmental projects. The ideal candidate will combine strong geotechnical and environmental engineering expertise with hands-on project delivery experience, design oversight, and client-facing leadership. This role focuses on delivering high-quality engineering solutions across municipal and industrial programs including wastewater and stormwater systems, pump stations, roads, and structures while mentoring staff, ensuring technical excellence, and supporting business development.
Key ResponsibilitiesLead technical design and review for civil and geotechnical engineering projects, ensuring compliance with codes, standards, and client requirements.
Serve as project Technical Lead for municipal and environmental projects including wastewater treatment, water distribution systems, pump stations, stormwater management, roads, and structural elements.
Perform or oversee geotechnical investigations, analysis and reporting; integrate geotechnical recommendations into civil designs.
Prepare and review design drawings, specifications, and calculations; coordinate deliverables using AutoCAD and engineering software.
Develop and review cost estimates, bid packages, and construction documents; support procurement and bidding processes.
Provide engineering support during construction including submittal reviews, RFI responses, site visits, and construction observation.
Lead QA/QC processes for technical deliverables and mentor junior engineers and designers to build internal capability.
Coordinate with clients, regulatory agencies and stakeholders to obtain permits, resolve technical issues, and maintain project schedules and budgets.
Support business development and proposal efforts by developing technical approaches, scope, schedules, and fee estimates; participate in client presentations and sales activities.
Manage project teams, track budgets and schedules, and ensure successful delivery of projects on time and within budget.
QualificationsBachelors degree in Civil Engineering (Masters preferred) from an accredited program.
Active Professional Engineer (P.E.) license required; ability to obtain or maintain P.E. licensure in relevant states (NCEES) preferred.8+ years of progressive civil and geotechnical engineering experience; demonstrated track record as a technical lead on municipal, environmental, or infrastructure projects.
Proven geotechnical engineering experience including subsurface investigation, lab data interpretation, slope/stability analysis, foundation recommendations, and geotechnical reporting.
Strong environmental engineering experience related to wastewater treatment, stormwater systems, and environmental permitting.
Hands-on experience with design and drafting tools (AutoCAD, Civil 3D or equivalent) and engineering analysis software.
Experience preparing cost estimates, bid documents, and managing bidding or procurement processes.
Demonstrated project management skills including budgeting, scheduling, client communication, and construction support.
Experience in consulting, client-facing roles, and business development (proposal writing, scopes, fee development) is highly desirable.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to mentor and develop junior staff.
Valid drivers license and willingness to attend project sites and client meetings as required.
