Job Description

Civil Engineering TechnicianRichmond, TexasDucks Unlimited, Inc., the worlds leading wetland and waterfowl conservation organization, is seeking a self-motivated, experienced engineering technician to work in the Southern Regional Office in Richmond, TX. The successful applicant will join a highly motivated conservation team of biologists and engineers who are responsible for the planning, design and construction of wetland restoration and enhancement projects within the Southwest Unit (Texas, Oklahoma, New Mexico).
The successful applicant will:
(1) Be responsible for the operation of various surveying equipment for topographic and construction surveys(2) Serve as DUs representative on construction projects, while performing a variety of inspections to verify contractors compliance with plans, specifications and standards(3) Prepare inspection reports and maintain project records(4) Assist Regional Engineer(s) and other Technician(s) with a variety of administrative duties
QualificationsExperience and Education:
Experience with topographic and construction surveying techniques is preferred.

Knowledge of heavy construction work methods, practices, materials and equipment in coastal environments is preferred.

Knowledge of methods and techniques of project administration, construction inspection and materials testing is preferred.

A two-year technical degree in a related field and a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in the engineering/construction industry is desirable. Must be able to operate ATV and outboard boats in coastal marsh environments.

Experience with surveying equipment (Trimble) is preferred.

Experience with AutoCAD Civil3D is desirable.

Good oral and written communication skills are essential. Must be able to work with and solve problems in close team-based relationships with peers, staff, supervisors, and public and private conservation partners.

Self-motivated and goal oriented.

Willingness to work outside of normal business hours, willingness to work independently, willingness to travel overnight, ability to work in inclement weather, and ability to work with minimal supervision in remote work environments.
