HDR Engineering is looking for a Bridge EIT/Designer to join our Alaska Bridge and Structures Team in Anchorage. HDR is a nationally recognized company that consistently ranks among top national recognized firms, including #4 in Top 20 Bridge firms by Engineering s-Record. We are currently seeking a Bridge EIT/Designer with an interest in a wide variety of transportation structures including roadway bridges, rail bridges, marine structures, and other transportation structures to join our team of Transportation Professionals. The Bridge EIT will perform assignments under the direct supervision of a Professional Engineer in support of bridge design and inspection projects. Tasks may include performing standard bridge engineering/design procedures, developing structural details using specialized software (MicroStation, Mathcad, LARSA, CSiBridge, or various concrete and steel design or analysis programs), bridge inspection, performing structural load rating calculations as well as assisting with geometric layout and bridge type studies. Some CADD plan production may also be required. In the role of Bridge EIT/Designer, we'll count on you to: Participate in bridge designs, develop design plans, perform structural load calculations and quantity takeoffs, review shop drawings and field submittals Work in a team environment as well as independently while challenging yourself to acquire knowledge and experience in engineering Support the bridge design group and other disciplines by applying structural engineering and detailing techniques in the development of structural designs Perform other duties such as bridge inspection and construction observation as needed Preferred Qualifications Engineer in Training (EIT) certification strongly preferred. Candidates hired without their EIT will have the title of "Designer" and will be expected to obtain their EIT for career progression MS Office, Math CAD and MicroStation experience Familiarity with MIDAS, STAAD, or LARSA or other general structural analysis programs as well as OpenBridge Designer, MDX, AASHTOWare BrR, Finite Element Analysis software, and other structural design programs a plus Master's degree in civil/structural engineering is preferred #LI-JM8 Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree Engineer in Training (EIT) certificate. MS Office, MathCAD and AutoCAD, LARSA and Prestress Concrete Design experience Knowledge of and some familiarity with Bluebeam Revu and engineering software packages such as: LEAP Bridge Enterprise, FB-MultiPier, LPile, AASHTOWare BrR, midas Civil, MDX, SAP2000, CSiBridge, RM Bridge, spColumn, STLBridgeLRFD, or STLBridge Knowledge of Bentley OpenBridge Designer and OpenBridge Modeler and/or Autodesk Infraworks and Civil3d Strong understanding and hands-on use of computers for structural layout and design Good communication skills and willing to work in a team environment An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must What We Believe HDR is our company.
