Job Description
United Concrete Products is seeking a Junior Structural Design Engineer to join our engineering team. This is an entry-level position ideal for a recent graduate or early-career engineer looking to build hands-on experience in precast concrete design. Working under the guidance of senior engineers, you will assist with conceptual and detailed design calculations and analyses on a variety of precast products, with an emphasis on Retaining Walls . You will also collaborate with other engineering staff to help prepare detailed drawings (for submission for approval and for shop production) that conform to contract specifications and drawings. This role offers mentorship, on-the-job training, and a clear path for professional growth. What You'll Do Assist senior engineers with design calculations and analyses for precast concrete products Support the preparation of detailed drawings for approval submissions and shop production Review contract specifications and drawings to ensure design conformance Learn and apply Finite Element Analysis where applicable Participate in design reviews and contribute to continuous improvement of design processes Perform other related duties as assigned Products You'll Gain Experience With 3-Sided Bridges & Box Culverts (including Headwalls, Footings, and Wingwalls) Load Ratings on Culverts (3-Sided & Box) Prestressed Bridge Beams Other Structural Bridge Items Soil Retention Wall Systems (Cantilevered Walls, Lagging Walls) Fire & Blast Wall Systems Modular Precast Concrete Buildings Below-Ground Vaults (Electrical, Storm Water, Waste Water, etc.) Pump Station Structures (Large below-ground Wet Well & Dry Well Structures) Requirements Bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering (or equivalent), recently completed or nearing completion 0-2 years of relevant experience; internships, co-ops, or academic projects are a plus EIT certification (or willingness to obtain) preferred Foundational understanding of reinforced concrete design principles Strong analytical and problem-solving skills Excellent written and verbal communication skills Eagerness to learn, take direction, and grow within a team environment Computer proficiency (Microsoft Office); familiarity with MathCAD and basic CAD is a plus—training will be provided Benefits Paid vacation & sick time Company-paid holidays Medical/Dental insurance 401K 10% Match Reimbursement & Referral programs
