Job Description
Overview This is a specialist design position focused on cold-formed prefabricated systems and integrated exterior façades. Rather than working on a high volume of repetitive projects, the successful candidate will be involved in a more selective project portfolio where the work is technically complex and often highly customized. The role will take projects through the design process internally while also involving direct interaction with clients and other project stakeholders. This makes it an excellent opportunity for a designer who enjoys combining technical design capability with client-facing responsibilities. When cold-form projects are not the immediate priority, the designer will also have the opportunity to contribute to KENPAT's wider cladding and glazing design work, providing exposure across multiple areas of building-envelope design. Key Responsibilities Develop detailed designs for cold-formed, prefabricated façade and exterior building systems. Produce and develop 3D models and detailed design information throughout the project lifecycle. Work on complex and highly customized façade solutions rather than predominantly repetitive production work. Translate project requirements into practical, buildable design solutions. Collaborate with internal design, project and construction teams to ensure designs can be successfully delivered. Work directly with clients and external project stakeholders throughout the design process. Coordinate design information across relevant disciplines and building-envelope interfaces. Produce and revise design documentation in line with project requirements. Use advanced modelling and computational design tools to develop and refine façade solutions. Support the design of cladding and glazing projects when required, allowing for broader involvement across the building-envelope capabilities. Work closely with the Design Manager and wider team to ensure projects are delivered to the required technical and commercial standards. Required Technical Skills The successful candidate should have strong experience in architectural, façade, structural or building-envelope design, with particular relevance to cold-formed/light-gauge steel and prefabricated systems. Experience with the following software is required: Revit / Revit full suite Rhino Grasshopper MWF conversion software Strong 3D modelling and design capability is important, alongside the ability to understand how individual façade components and systems integrate into a complete building envelope.
