Summary:
As a Designer, you will be responsible for development of project shop drawings and detailing. In addition, development of field drawings, production drawings and all associated coordination drawings. Excellent communication between our shop and field crews via drawings and verbally will be a critical part of your role. As needed, project take-offs, onsite inspections and product concept development may also be part of your role. In this role you will be an integral part of communication thread between us and the end use customer. Required Knowledge Ability to represent complex 3D objects in a 2D plane (Descriptive Geometry) Read and interpret construction drawings and specifications at various stages of design including Concept, Schematic Design, Design Development, and Construction Documents. Prepare detailed drawings per project estimates for various project types. Competencies in architectural drawings and interpreting design intent. Demonstrates emerging competencies in civil and structural drawings. Review and develop shop drawings, detailing and estimates to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with defined scope of work. Document management and organization. Prepares notes and meeting minutes, as needed. Engineer and coordinate with teammates on Company shop drawing, estimating methods and preparation documents. Familiarity with general construction practices, methods and terminology. Preferred Knowledge (not required) Develops and organizes Material Take Offs (MTO) for ease of audit. Ability to interact with trade contractors. Familiarity with exterior Architectural products and Rainscreens. Skills & Abilities Multi-tasking and prioritization abilities Complex Geometry Excellent time management and coordinating skills Excellent communication skills and writing skills People skills with a collaborative team first attitude Great customer service skills and follow through. Strong math and analytical skills Qualifications Bachelor's degree in product design and manufacturing engineering, mechanical engineering, interdisciplinary engineering with an Architectural emphasis and experience. Very conscientious of evaluating and double-checking details Strategic Thinker/Organizer Key Competencies Familiarity with Microsoft Office suite of programs Fluent in AutoCad and developing drawings and details. Ability and willingness to travel thorough out Michigan Critical thinking and problem-solving skills Planning and organizing Decision-making Communication skills Professionalism and Leadership Teamwork and ability to work well with others
