Designer Job Summary Responsible to prepare complex drawings for projects, fabrication drawings, perform material take-offs and adhere to Speedrack's drawing standards. Essential Functions and Responsibilities Responsible for actively supporting Continuous Improvement initiatives of the facility Prepare and review both standard and special fabrication drawings using AutoCAD for use by the manufacturing facilities Prepares quotes, approvals, installation layouts, and detail drawings for permitting & installation of complex storage rack projects Generates accurate drawings from the Engineer's sketches and directions Revise and update drawings and "Bills of Material" in response to customer changes, design changes, and/or corrections Ensure that details provided on drawings are complete, clear, and precise by utilizing appropriate drawing scales, sizes, part numbers, and accurate dimensions Develop & implement a proficient understanding of Speedrack's manufacturing operations to ensure drawings contain all the necessary information for fabrication and construction Effectively communicate work status to the Engineering team Perform material take-offs as needed Provide work-hour estimates for completion of current tasks Demonstrates the capabilities of handling multiple or difficult tasks with supervision Operate drawing plotters and replace paper rolls & toner cartridges as necessary Maintain general housekeeping and orderly work area(s) Maintain regular, reliable and punctual attendance at the worksite for the duration of scheduled shifts, including mandatory overtime Understand and comply with all company policies, procedures, rules and standards Maintain professional, cooperative, respectful and ethical conduct when interacting with coworkers, customers, vendors and the public Meet established productivity, quality, accuracy and performance standards while completing assigned work in a timely manner Effectively and consistently support the company mission, vision and values Responsible for all other duties, procedures and instructions as required by the job function, or as assigned, to meet organizational needs Qualifications Education and Experience High School Diploma or GED required, Associate Degree preferred 2D AutoCAD training and experience Structural or Mechanical drafting Skills and Abilities Requires the ability to read & write Must be able to type using a personal computer, creating forms, and spreadsheets Knowledge of general office equipment such as copier, fax, calculator, etc. Capable of working well with co-workers of different cultural backgrounds Must be proficient with Microsoft Office software Must be able to work flexible hours Certifications or Licenses None Working Conditions This position primarily operates in a professional office setting. This role may occasionally travel for business purposes.
