This is an ideal opportunity for someone who enjoys variety and is comfortable dividing their time among light engineering work, drafting, and residential construction inspections. We are a small, collaborative structural engineering firm, so we are looking for a true utility player who is willing to step in where needed. The ideal candidate will have a practical understanding of residential construction, strong technical and organizational skills, and the ability to work independently in both the office and the field.
Responsibilities:
Assist Professional Engineers with structural engineering and calculations for residential projects Draft and develop engineered residential plans under the guidance of Professional Engineers Create and revise drawings using AutoCAD and/or Revit Review plans, field conditions, and construction details for accuracy and consistency Perform residential construction inspections, including subgrade and soil conditions, concrete footings, foundation walls, framing, and other structural components Document field observations clearly and communicate findings to engineers, builders, and other team members Help cover and manage a growing schedule of new-home inspections Coordinate with builders, contractors, designers, and other professionals Assist with additional technical and project-related tasks as needed
Qualifications:
Minimum associate degree in engineering technology, drafting, construction management, or a related field Bachelor's degree in civil, structural, or architectural engineering and EIT certification preferred, but not required Proficiency in AutoCAD and/or Revit Familiarity with residential construction methods and structural components Experience with structural engineering, residential design, construction inspections, materials testing, or structural drafting preferred Strong written and verbal communication skills Reliable, organized, and able to manage a schedule and meet deadlines Comfortable working both independently and as part of a small team Willing and able to perform light field work at active residential construction sites Valid driver's license and reliable transportation required

Some days may be primarily spent assisting with engineering and drafting, while others may involve completing residential inspections or helping the team keep projects moving. Flexibility, initiative, sound judgment, and a willingness to learn are essential.
