DESCRIPTION
Our client, a large defense contractor, has an immediate opening for a Mechanical Engineer - Welding, NDE and Structural Design to work from their McLeansville, NC facility. As a mechanical engineer for General Dynamics Mission Systems, you'll be a member of a cross functional team responsible for fabrication oversight, design verification and documentation of large assemblies of a critical nature.
QUALIFICATIONS
Requires a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, or a related Science, Engineering, Technology or Mathematics field. Also requires 2+ years of job-related experience, or a Master's degree and 6 months of job-related experience. Agile experience preferred, CLEARANCE
REQUIREMENTS
: Department of Defense Secret security clearance is obtainable within a reasonable amount of time after hire. Applicants selected will be subject to a U.S. Government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Due to the nature of work performed within our facilities, U.S. citizenship is required. Key Responsibilities Design and verify welded assemblies in accordance with applicable codes and standards Develop and review engineering drawings and weld symbols per AWS A2.4 and
ASME Y14.100
Create, review, and maintain comprehensive engineering documentation including drawings, specifications, weld procedure requirements, and design rationale Apply knowledge of Non-Destructive Examination (NDE) techniques — including but not limited to radiographic (RT), ultrasonic (UT), magnetic particle (MT), liquid penetrant (PT), and visual (VT) — to support inspection planning and acceptance criteria Develop and manage Creo 3D models and associated drawing packages Support supplier oversight activities, including on-site visits to verify conformance to design and quality requirements Attend customer witness points during fabrication, inspection, and testing activities Collaborate cross-functionally with manufacturing, quality, and program teams Support weld procedure qualification and welder performance qualification activities, with reference to
