Job Description

Job Title:
Structural DrafterAbout the Role We are seeking a detail-oriented Structural Drafter to join our team and support the development of high-quality residential structural construction documents. In this role, you will create detailed 2D structural drawings and construction documentation using AutoCAD, working closely with engineers and architects to produce accurate, code-compliant plans and details. This position also offers opportunities to expand your knowledge and skills in residential structural engineering based on your interests, capabilities, and project needs. Key Responsibilities Develop detailed structural drawings and construction documents using AutoCAD. Read, interpret, and incorporate architectural plans, structural plans, engineering markups, and design revisions.
Prepare structural plans including:
Foundation plans Framing plans Wall bracing layouts Structural construction details Produce accurate construction documentation for single-family residential projects. Revise and update drawings based on engineer and architect feedback. Maintain organized digital files, drawings, markups, and project documentation within established file management systems. Adhere to company drafting standards, processes, quality requirements, and project schedules. Collaborate effectively with structural engineers, architects, and other project stakeholders to ensure project accuracy and timely delivery. Required Qualifications Minimum 2 years of experience in structural or architectural drafting for building projects using AutoCAD. Proficiency in reading and interpreting architectural and structural drawings. Basic knowledge of building structural systems and construction methods. Ability to follow established procedures and maintain high standards of accuracy and timeliness. Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing quality work. Excellent organizational and time-management skills. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision. Valid driver's license. Preferred Qualifications Associate degree or equivalent vocational/technical certification in Drafting, Engineering Technology, Architecture, or a related field. Knowledge of residential wood-frame construction. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment and follow project direction effectively. Desired Skills & Attributes Proficiency with AutoCAD software. Strong collaboration and interpersonal skills. Self-motivated with a proactive approach to problem-solving. Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet project deadlines. Detail-oriented mindset with a focus on accuracy and consistency. Willingness to learn and grow within residential structural engineering.
