Job Description
Natural Gas Designer - #2975
We are looking for a Natural Gas Designer to join our Industrial Commercial Energy team to improve infrastructure in our Pittsburgh or Columbus office. Candidates must have a high school diploma, and 3 or more years of drafting experience in the natural gas industry. Excellent technical writing, organization and communication skills are essential. Candidates must be self-motivated and able to work well with others. Knowledge of personal computer hardware and software configurations and familiarity with AutoCAD 3D is required. A flexible hybrid-remote work schedule may be available after 30 days of employment.
Typical responsibilities include:
- Prepare computer drafted natural gas pipeline designs, as-builts, and mechanical detail drawings.
- Reproduce historic pipeline drawings in AutoCAD.
- Generate bill of materials.
- Ability to work independently.
- Print working drawings using a plotter.
- Create estimated time requirements for projects.
- Attend project-specific meetings to determine CAD schedules.
- Save project-specific data on a daily and weekly basis.
- Complete 811 design requests and coordinate responses to obtain 3rd party infrastructure.
- Verify and organize field visit survey notes.
- Assist Project Managers as needed.
- Attend meetings as needed.
- Maintain excellent client relations.
- Maintain a safe working environment.
Education:
- High school diploma required
- Bachelor's Degree in Civil/Environmental (or related field) is preferred
Skills/Experience:
- 3+ years of experience in natural gas distribution systems/design, natural gas infrastructure, regulator station design, high pressure steel, compression, and government regulations.
- Experience with Autodesk Civil 3D.
- Compression station design experience is a plus.
- Horizontal directional drill (HDD) modeling is a plus.
- Experience with CadWorx or Autodesk Plant 3D is a plus.
