KDG is currently searching for a talented Intern, Junior, or Staff Architect (architectural Designer) to join our innovative firm. to join our established and dynamically growing architecture and interior design firm. The job opening is a full time (in office), entry-level, permanent position on the path to licensure at our office located in downtown Detroit. KDG works on a wide variety of project types including commercial, multi-family, and hospitality projects. Our portfolio includes the completion of more historic renovation projects in Detroit's urban core than any other firm, with a local expertise in adaptive reuse unrivaled in the industry. Qualifications:
Candidates must at least have a Bachelor of Architecture (B.Arch.) or Master of Architecture (M. Arch) from an accredited school or university and a minimum of two (2) years of work experience. Candidates must have a working knowledge of AutoCAD and/or Revit. Experience with Sketch-Up, Enscape, specification writing software and Adobe Creative Suite software a plus.
Expectations and Responsibilities:
Under general supervision, works from the design of others and performs routine and limited architectural assignments using methods prescribed by senior staff. Shall rely on project lead for technical guidance and direction on work output, although a high learning curve is expected over time. Coordinates all aspects of assigned tasks, commensurate with experience level. More independent and advanced tasks and responsibilities may be assigned when there is a demonstrated acumen and/or interest in a specific area of architecture. Training shall be generally provided in-office by senior level staff. Work assignments may be tailored to include more advanced tasks intended to challenge the Architectural Designer for training/development purposes. Assists senior architects with development of both schematic and detailed design solutions, researching architectural materials and products, performs site surveys, documents field conditions in CAD/Revit format, Supports business development activities through assistance with aids such as architectural renderings and/or presentations. Has exposure to architectural design specifications, code calculations, and industry standards. Must have excellent customer service skills and be comfortable interfacing with clients, contractors, consultants, vendors, and internal staff. Participate in office activities, company retreats, initiatives and learning programs. Flexibility - Ability to manage change and last-minute alterations of design or scope due to issues including client requests, budget/schedule challenged or added benefits to overall package aesthetically or economically. Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously, altering priorities when required. Understand construction sequencing and schedule restrictions. Available for travel as needed to various locations and varying periods of time as needed on a project basis for site surveys, project management, installation, photo shoots, etc. Candidates must be comfortable wearing PPE and visiting construction sites. Stay current on the latest products and innovations by traveling to a variety of industry trade shows and product tours as scheduled by the manager. Participate in office activities, company retreats, initiatives and learning programs.
