Job Responsibilities:

Design, create, and produce floor plans, maps and illustrations that protect people from fire, severe weather and security threats. Collaborate with the project management team to understand instructions and specifications to organize the project accordingly. Use knowledge of building and fire code to create safe compliant safety illustrations. Maintain a high degree of accuracy to ensure high safety standards. Retain accurate records to account for billable time and costs. Perform other related duties as assigned.

Safety Illustrator Qualifications/Skills:

Ability to create technical safety maps and illustrations based on sketches, mechanical blueprints, and drawings. Ability to accurately and consistently complete work on schedule and with minimal supervision. Understanding of mechanical blueprints and drawings. Highly proficient with Adobe Illustrator, AutoCad, Revit and GIS platforms a plus. Knowledge of building code and fire code. Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Attention to detail. Curiosity to learn.

Education and Experience:

Associate or higher degree in Technical Art or equivalent work experience in technical art, drafting, or related field preferred. Knowledge of building code and fire code preferred. 1-3 years of illustration and project management experience preferred, but we train the right person.

Physical Requirements:

Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer. Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times. www.building-maps.com
