Civil Design Engineer
Job Description
Summary An established, multi-disciplinary engineering firm is seeking a Civil Design Engineer to join its team on a full-time, direct-hire basis in Milton, DE. This position will support a variety of Site/Civil and Land Development projects, with responsibilities spanning civil design, CAD drafting, plan preparation, technical calculations, and occasional field support. Position Responsibilities Prepare and revise Site/Civil and Land Development drawings using survey field data and engineering design information. Develop grading, utility, stormwater management (SWM), and erosion and sediment control (E&S) plans. Prepare site/civil details, exhibits, plan sheets, and construction documentation. Perform CAD drafting and civil design utilizing engineering/CADD software. Assist with the preparation of plans for both greenfield and brownfield land development projects. Perform technical calculations, including area, slope, and volume computations. Review survey information and incorporate field data into design and construction documents. Support project scheduling and productivity objectives. Provide office and technical support to project teams as needed. Perform field work on an as-needed basis, including construction observation and assisting Surveyors with field activities. Collaborate with engineers, designers, surveyors, and other project team members to complete assignments accurately and efficiently. For more experienced candidates, provide technical guidance and mentorship to less-experienced staff. Manage multiple assignments while effectively prioritizing deadlines and deliverables. Perform additional duties and responsibilities as assigned. Required Qualifications High School Diploma or equivalent. 2+ years of professional experience in Civil Design and/or Civil Drafting. Experience with AutoCAD Civil 3D and other engineering/CADD software. Experience with Site/Civil and Land Development projects. Experience preparing grading, utility, SWM, and E&S plans. Valid Driver's License, as occasional field work may be required. Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team. Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple assignments and deadlines. Preferred Qualifications Bachelors and/or Associate's degree in Civil Engineering, Design Technology, or a related technical field. 5+ years of professional experience in Civil Design and/or Civil Drafting for candidates being considered at the senior end of the position. Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification is desired but not required. Ability to read, interpret, and develop civil engineering plans and technical drawings. Ability to perform basic technical mathematics and engineering-related calculations. Experience working on both greenfield and brownfield development projects. Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications. Experience utilizing survey field data in civil design and drafting. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Ability to work with minimal supervision while maintaining accuracy and productivity. Self-motivated approach with the ability to effectively multitask and prioritize competing assignments. Experience mentoring or providing guidance to junior design staff is a plus.
