This position will work closely with clients, municipalities, contractors, regulatory agencies, and internal design professionals to ensure projects are delivered successfully, on schedule, and within budget.
Responsibilities The selected candidate will:
Manage multiple municipal and private-sector civil engineering projects from planning and design through completion. Lead the preparation and review of engineering plans, construction documents, specifications, estimates, and permit applications. Develop and manage project scopes, schedules, budgets, and deliverables. Work directly with municipal clients, developers, contractors, regulatory agencies, and other project stakeholders. Provide technical guidance and oversight to engineers, designers, and other project team members. Prepare and review State, County, and local permitting documentation. Coordinate with surveyors, environmental professionals, landscape architects, architects, and other disciplines as required. Assist municipal clients with grant applications and related engineering documentation. Participate in client meetings, project presentations, site visits, and construction-related activities. Review plans and technical work for accuracy, quality, and compliance with applicable standards and regulations. Identify project issues and develop practical solutions to keep projects moving forward. Assist with proposals, scope development, and other business-development activities as appropriate. Project Experience The firm's work encompasses a broad range of civil engineering projects, including: Municipal infrastructure improvements Residential and commercial land development Roadways and streetscapes Stormwater management and collection improvements Green stormwater infrastructure Water and wastewater treatment facilities Water and sewer utility systems Parks and recreational facilities Athletic fields and sports facilities Municipal capital improvement projects Public-sector engineering and grant-funded projects Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or a related engineering field. Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred; candidates actively pursuing licensure may also be considered. 5+ years of progressively responsible civil engineering experience, preferably involving municipal and/or land development projects. Demonstrated experience managing civil engineering projects and coordinating project teams. Strong proficiency with AutoCAD Civil 3D. Experience with civil site design, grading, drainage, utilities, stormwater management, and roadway design. Experience preparing engineering plans, specifications, estimates, bid documents, and permit applications. Familiarity with New Jersey State, County, and local permitting processes. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Ability to manage multiple projects, priorities, and deadlines simultaneously. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Ability to work independently while effectively leading and collaborating with multi-disciplinary teams. Practical, hands-on approach to problem solving and project management.
