What You Will Do:
GFT is seeking an Entry Level Civil Designer to support a variety of site/civil projects throughout the Southeast region. This role follows a hybrid work model and requires regular attendance at our Tampa, FL office. At GFT, the site/civil design team is dedicated to creating efficient, innovative solutions for site improvements, ensuring a comprehensive design solution. From site planning through design, permitting and construction our site/civil design teams provides design solutions for an array of project types and clients. Explore some of our signature projects. What you'll be challenged to do: Working under the direction of Professional Engineers and senior design staff, the successful Entry Level Civil Designer will provide Civil 3D and AutoCAD production support for site development projects, including grading, drainage, utilities, erosion and sediment control, stormwater management, and related civil infrastructure improvements. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated and detail-oriented professional interested in developing technical design skills while supporting a diverse portfolio of land development and civil infrastructure projects. In this capacity, the successful candidate will be responsible for the following: Prepare and revise engineering drawings and construction documents using Autodesk Civil 3D and AutoCAD for site development, grading, drainage, utility, stormwater management, and related civil infrastructure projects. Develop and maintain Civil 3D design models including surfaces, alignments, profiles, pipe networks, feature lines, and data references. Create plan sheets, details, profiles, cross sections, exhibits, and quantity calculations while accurately incorporating engineering markups and design revisions. Coordinate with engineers, landscape architects, and other project team members to support project design and production efforts. Assist with the preparation of permitting, agency, client, and construction submittal packages while maintaining project documentation and drawing files. Follow established CAD standards and participate in quality control reviews to ensure accurate and high-quality deliverables. Experience:
What you will bring to our firm: Associate's degree in Civil Engineering Technology, Drafting and Design Technology, Computer-Aided Design, or a related technical program. 0-3 years of relevant experience supporting site/civil, land development, municipal infrastructure, transportation, or water resources projects. Demonstrated interest in site, civil, or land development engineering through prior internship, co-op, academic, or professional experience. Working knowledge of Autodesk AutoCAD and Civil 3D. Understanding of engineering drawing standards, construction plans, and drafting principles. Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work products. Ability to interpret and implement engineering markups, sketches, and design instructions. Effective written and verbal communication skills. Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications. Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary project team.

What we prefer you bring:
Experience utilizing Civil 3D surfaces, alignments, profiles, pipe networks, corridors, XREFs, and data shortcuts. Familiarity with grading, drainage, stormwater management, erosion and sediment control, utility design, or land development projects. Exposure to Florida site development, permitting, or development review processes.
