Job Description

Our DoD/Aerospace client is looking to fill a Mechanical Engineer position focused on welding, NDE, and structural design within the aerospace defense sector. This opportunity offers a hybrid work environment based in McLeansville, NC, with a contract length of 12-24 months with the possibility of going direct. The pay rate is $46.99 per hour. The ideal candidate will have a Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field, with 2+ years of relevant experience or a Masters degree with 6 months of experience. A Top Secret security clearance is obtainable for this role. The work schedule is from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. In this role, you will use your technical and interpersonal skills to oversee fabrication, verify design compliance, and support inspection activities for critical aerospace assemblies. You will develop and review engineering drawings and weld symbols according to AWS A2.4 and
ASME Y14.100
standards, manage Creo 3D models, and support supplier oversight and customer witness points. Your responsibilities will also include supporting weld procedure qualification, applying NDE techniques such as radiographic, ultrasonic, magnetic particle, liquid penetrant, and visual inspections, and ensuring documentation accuracy.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
You should possess a strong understanding of welding design and verification practices, proficiency with
AWS A2.4
weld symbol standards, and comprehensive knowledge of NDE techniques and their applications. Experience with
ASME Y14.100
engineering drawing practices, Creo CAD software, and familiarity with
MIL-SPEC
standards related to welding and fabrication are essential. Excellent documentation skills for procedures, specifications, and reports are required. The ability to travel domestically up to 10% for supplier oversight and customer activities is also important.
