https://www.leekimball.com About the Role As a Project Designer / Architect, you'll lead clients through the design journey—from initial vision and feasibility discussions to detailed design development and collaboration during construction. You'll work closely with homeowners, project managers, trade partners, and vendors to create thoughtful, buildable solutions that balance design excellence, functionality, budget, and client goals. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys both the creative and technical sides of residential design and values strong relationships as much as great design. What You'll Do Lead residential remodeling and renovation projects from concept through design development Guide clients through discovery, planning, visualization, and design decision-making Create floor plans, construction drawings, and 3D models Develop creative and practical design solutions that align with project goals and budgets Research, specify, and coordinate materials, finishes, fixtures, and products Prepare and present design concepts, drawings, and project presentations Collaborate with project managers, field teams, vendors, and trade partners throughout the project lifecycle Support estimating and budget development during design Coordinate permitting and consultant relationships as needed Maintain project documentation and design records Participate in construction-phase collaboration to ensure design intent is successfully executed Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, suppliers, and industry partners What You Bring 5+ years of residential design or architectural experience Strong residential remodeling, renovation, or custom home design background Proficiency with Vectorworks, Chief Architect, or similar residential design software Experience creating construction documents and detailed drawing packages Understanding of residential construction methods and building systems Ability to balance creativity, technical accuracy, and practical execution Strong presentation, communication, and client relationship skills Excellent organizational and project management abilities Valid driver's license and reliable transportation Bonus If You Have Licensed Architect credentials Certified Kitchen and Bath Designer (CKBD) designation Experience in a design-build environment Knowledge of local permitting and zoning processes Experience with Chief Architect software Interior design and product specification expertise Construction administration or field collaboration experience What Makes You Successful Creative and solution-oriented Highly organized and detail-focused Comfortable leading client conversations and presentations Able to work independently while contributing to a collaborative team Curious, resourceful, and continually learning Positive, professional, and relationship-driven Passionate about creating exceptional client experiences Why Join Lee Kimball?
